Session 1A: Communicating Diversity in Electronic and Print Publications
With Ami Berger, Phil Kragnes, and Genie Smith
This workshop will explore ways of integrating an organization’s diversity efforts and goals throughout print and electronic communication vehicles. Discussion points will include:
Phil Kragnes is an adaptive technology specialist in Disability Services and head of the Computer Accommodations Program. He received his B.A. in cognitive psychology from Carnegie-Mellon University, where he also developed and directed CMU's first disability services program. In 1995, he received his M.S. in experimental psychology–human cognition, memory and learning from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He's been at the University since 1998.
Eugenia Smith attended freshman orientation in 1963 and has been at the University ever since—except for a brief hiatus in 1996. In 1997, she was hired to lead College of Liberal Arts communications. In March 2008, she moved to the Office of the Vice President and Vice Provost for Equity and Diversity, where she is a senior communications and policy associate.
Since coming to the University of Minnesota in 2001, Ami Berger has held communications positions in the Carlson School of Management, the late great College of Human Ecology, and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In March 2007, she joined the Office for Equity and Diversity as director of communication.
