Categories & Criteria

Categories and criteria for the Maroon & Gold Awards is updated each year as a new awards committee is formed. Below are the guidelines for the 2009 awards.

Check out our 2009 Awards Entry Tips!

2009 Awards Categories & Criteria

Entries fall into FIVE communications categories:

Once you decide which category best fits your entry, classify your project by its subcategory. This allows our judges to compare your entry to others in the same classification. Examples for each classification are provided to guide you. Please choose one subcategory for each entry; if you would like to enter a piece in more than one category, please send a separate sample and entry form for each category.
Each entry will be judged on its overall success at meeting its stated purpose and representing the University of Minnesota at its best, as demonstrated by the components listed within the five main categories.
You will be asked to indicate for each entry whether you would like it to be considered for the Margo award for the most elegant solution within the means available. These entries will require additional information detailing cost savings, planning, etc.
