Privacy, the Law, and your Communications

Do you use pictures, quotes, and names in your communications? Do you view or use student or staff records? You may not know it, but the work you do has implications for the privacy of students, staff, and faculty. As communicators we all need to understand how privacy standards impact our work.
Jane Kirtley (Silha Professor of Media Ethics and Law, Director of the Silha Center for the Study of Media Ethics and Law), Tina Falkner, Ph.D. (Associate Registrar and Chief Information Office for the Office of Enrolled Student Services), and Susan McKinney, CRM (Director of Records and Information Management) discussed important privacy concerns for communications professionals.
