If you decide that you do not want the message to go to the list, simply disregard or delete the confirmation mail.
What types of messages can be posted to the mailing list?
Postings to mailing list are NOT restricted to official Forum business. You may use the mailing list to seek the professional advice from fellow members or pose communications-related questions.
The mailing list may also be used to announce events or opportunities of interest to members. Job postings, event announcements, and other items of interest need not be University-related. Advertisements or messages promoting a company, service, or commercial product are strongly discouraged unless they are solicited through the list by a Forum member who specifically asks other members for recommendations for companies, services, or products of a particular nature. In such cases, recommendations should be sent directly to the person who made the inquiry.
