University Images Library has more than 1,300 photos available for use by faculty and staff. It also contains the University's wordmark, block M, and Goldy logos. Register for access to the site at www.ur.umn.edu/imageslib. Send suggestions for adding photos to the site to Steve Baker in University Relations at s-bake@umn.edu.

Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station and Extension have images of agriculture, nature, rural life, horticulture, etc. at www.extension.umn.edu/ext_image_lib. Contact Dave Hansen at 612-625-7290.

AHC images include medical, research, students, faculty, and buildings at www.ahc.umn.edu/about/admin/communications/images.

Design Center Imagebank includes aerial landscape photographs at
www.designcenter.umn.edu/imagebank.

The image, audio, and video collections of the College of Design and the College of Liberal Arts is searchable through a union interface. The Digital Content Library is a University-wide resource open to all staff, faculty, and students. The goal of this online merger is to produce greater access to teaching and research materials. The site is at www.dcl.umn.edu.

U of M School of Journalism / Society of Professional Journalists student chapter for photographers provides a great opportunity for students to make some cash and add to their portfolios. Rates around $10 per hour. You can require that students have their own digital cameras and request a CD with the high resolution images. Contact umn.spj@gmail.com for more information.

General Photography

American Society of Media Photographers is a trade organization that promotes photographers' rights, educates photographers in better business practices, and produces business publications for photographers.

Minnesota Professional Photographers Association is affiliated with Professional Photographers of America and is intended to help Minnesota photographers share ideas, talents, and educational programs. Includes referral service to photographers throughout the state.

Professional Photographers of America, the world's leading certifying agency for imaging professionals and the world's largest not-for-profit association for professional photographers. PPA offers consumers free referrals to photographic professionals, as well as acting as a locator service for finding the owners of images.

The National Press Photographers Association is dedicated to the advancement of photojournalism in all news media.
